As one of the leading inovators in the phone system industry for many years, Nortel established itself as one of the premier manufactures in Hybrid Key and PBX systems in the world for more than 80 years. Their flagship Norstar & BCM product lines quickly became an industry standard known for reliability, ease of use, and efficiency. In January 2009, Nortel filled for chapter 11 bankrupcy and the telecom division was aquired by Avaya Incorporated. Knowing the value and broad reach of the Norstar & BCM systems still in service, Avaya ensured that the core customer base was fully supported during the transition. However, in an attempt to stream line the product offerings and develope a more simplified platform, Avaya discontinued the Norstar and early BCM 200/400 in 2011 & 2012. Today, along with the now flagship IP Office, Avaya still provides product and support for the BCM50/450 line of IP enabled systems as well as all late generation digital and IP sets.
